Boats on the North Saskatchewan River in Edmonton on this date in 2016 (a year with an exceptionally early spring - no ice at the river's edge and trees already leafed-out).

Also on this day 8 years ago, there was a community protest against the plan to demolish our beloved pedestrian bridge across the river. (The protest failed to sway the powers-that-be).

On this date, 5 years ago - a crocus in my garden. I'm still waiting for the first bloom in my garden this year:

@CJShaneArtBooks Thanks, I live near the river and enjoy walking by it, so the water is frequently catching my eye and appearing in my images. 🙂

@RandallTT If I were there, I'd be doing that, too. There's a river not far from where I Iive, the Rillito River. Most of the time, it has no water in it, though it's fun to walk dogs in the sandy river bottom. When it rains, the river fills up to 5 ft deep and flows rapidly. It's easy to drown if a person falls in. That happens sometimes.
