Didn't CounterSocial begin as an "instance" of Mastodon and still uses significant portions of the Mastodon open source code?

Just asking to understand. Since I have been on CS for months and have no issue with it other than the lack of light mode availability on the phone app and the fee to unlock some features.

Mastodon is adding 100k users/day, which seems like something may be happening.

That said, I freely admit I know nothing what is happening.

Not sure I agree with cutting off other nations because there are a number of good people struggling to resist authoritarian governments from within, something the bird app helped with until the idiot bought it.

Decentralized social media resistance is more difficult for such authoritative regimes to destroy and something many millions need.

Reminded of the quote attributed to Franklin about liberty and security and how it might apply to social media.
