Why does Hilary Clinton speak up at critical moments? Does she think she is helping?

@kendonnelly I suspect that she is invited to speak, and why shouldn't she? She got over 48% of the vote (to Trumps 46%) in 2016 and was not only the first lady for 8 years, she was also a U.S. senator and the Secretary of State. She's a hero to many. I would certainly respect her opinion, even if I didn't agree with her. I'm Canadian, but followed the 2016 US election closely, hoping Bernie would win. There were a lot of nasty rumors about Hilary, thanks in part to Russian trolls.

@REDonaldAuthor do you think she will win over any Republicans or undecided that Kamala can’t on her own?

@kendonnelly I wouldn't know, but I do know that she is highly regarded, especially among women. I used to feel the same way about her as you do, but I realized that a lot of that was because of the anti-Hillary misinformation being spread prior to the 2016 election. One of my American relatives' high opinion of her helped me recognize my own prejudice against her.

@REDonaldAuthor with respect, you are making an incorrect assumption about how I feel about her. I have no, nor have I ever had any, prejudice against her. I looked back at my question and I don’t believe I implied anything bad about her. I just asked why she is speaking up at critical times during the campaign.

@kendonnelly Sorry I misunderstood. It was your remark “Does she think she is helping?” That implied to me that you didn’t think her endorsement made a positive difference. Then someone mentioned her book tour and you responded with “Grrr.”

@REDonaldAuthor I could have asked “is she helping?” But what I wonder is if she is doing it because she thinks she is helping. I have no idea if she helps or not. But I suspect that pretty well anyone who supported her in 2016 would already be supporting KH in 2024.

“Grrr” refers to the possibility she is promoting her book by commenting on the election. That would not impress me.

As I said, I have nothing against HRC. I was hoping she would win in 2016.

@REDonaldAuthor also, no need to apologise. I can see why you might have thought I was being critical of her.

@kendonnelly Easy to misunderstand or be misunderstood on social media. I'm glad we're actually on the same page!
