So far, the new agent hunt has yielded only one response, a form letter, and a number of no-replies that just passed into the time frame of "take silence as rejection".

Normal, but tough.

I have to send out more on Monday, but there are remarkably few agents working with proper SF at this time.

This is a super hard gig. Writing is only the start. Hustling/networking is everything. Time to get back to submitting more stories, after this editing gig and slated book review.

@MLClark I was fortunately in the position of not needing a full income from my writing when I decided to retain complete control over my mystery series by starting my own independent publishing company. I have never regretted it. If I were a more disciplined (ambitious?) writer I’d be doing better but I’ve only got 5 books in the series. Also the hustling and networking applies either way and I’m not very disciplined about that either! 🤪😁

Best of luck with your queries!

Thanks

@REDonaldAuthor

And you with your work! I've indie-published as well, and might have to with this trilogy if I run out of agent possibilities, but you're absolutely right: it's a hard, hustling road no matter what. I *had* an agent, but she didn't want to take three of four books I gave her to market, so... we go where the wind takes us, and try not to break the bank in the process.

I wish you great joy in your writing, and great success in the selling!
