@Mark_FYEO Wow! That's a first 😲 Nice to meet you, Mark. Have a good time here at #CoSo!
@Mark_FYEO Always happy to meet a fellow Trekkie! What's your fav series? Mine would be TNG, but DS9 is a close second.
@Paradise7D The original series for me followed by Voyager which is my favourite crew line up. But the camaraderie and family of Kirk / Spock / McCoy will for me never be surpassed and they had me crying with laughter on my umpteenth viewing of Star Trek V The Voyage Home last night.
@Paradise7D Star Trek V The Final Frontier… oops…
@Paradise7D TNG and DS9 are excellent too. In fact all Trek is good. Haven’t seen Strange New Worlds yet as don’t have the relevant streaming service.
You will also like me because I find tarantulas of interest and have handled the Mexican Red Knee breed.
@Mark_FYEO Sorry for the late follow-up, haven't been online much during the holidays. Looking forward to our interactions -- and I'm sure you'll love Strange New Worlds, it's most in the spirit of the original when compared to the other shows. I love it to pieces :) And hey, you handled a B. smithi?! They're so sweet, many of them are super docile.
@Paradise7D Hello! Good plan not being on social media during the holidays. I watched Star Trek: Insurrection the other night, hadn’t seen it since it’s first release at the cinema. Felt like a double TV episode rather than a movie but I did enjoy it after all these years. Hope we can chat more, I need a Trek buddy. Hope 2023 is a good year for you
@Mark_FYEO Oh yes, Insurrection does feel like that to me as well. Just like The Motion Picture does :) And, admittedly, Generations though it's one of my favourites. Do you have a favourite Trek movie? The Voyage Home and The Undiscovered Country are #1 and #2 on my list :)
@Paradise7D I love Undiscovered Country and the mighty Wrath of Khan.
The Motion Picture is tonally wrong and soooo slow….
The Voyage Home is the most fun Trek movie and packs a powerful ecological message
@Mark_FYEO Wrath of Khan is superb! And speaking of The Motion Picture, I'm just happy Star Trek survived that and got a second movie, the glorious Wrath of Khan. Let's just say I wouldn't have been surprised in the least, had Paramount said after The Motion Picture, "okay, that's it for Trek, no more movies and no more shows." Same goes for TNG's abysmal first season. I'm SO HAPPY Trek survived all of that.
@Paradise7D They had to reduce the budget substantially for Star Trek Wrath of Khan and we have to thank Harve Bennett for bringing it all together and making it work. Many successful films franchise and TV series needed that second chance.
A world without Trek? Unthinkable!
@Paradise7D fellow Trekkie and cat lover too. Bodes well…
