Are we actually obligated to help Israel? Throwing an honest question out there.
Note: I’m not taking sides or trying to get into an argument (I have no dog in this fight but I think about this every single time I see a news report about it) I’m just curious. Was there some agreement made years ago that says that we have to find ourselves involved in a conflict that is outside our borders.
/IMO: we don’t actually have to stick our noses into everything esp when we have problems at home.
Whoever's in charge of making these kinds of decisions obviously think we are the world's gatekeeper.
I have no dog in the fight, either, but I seriously doubt 4000 years of conflict is going to be resolved in a year or less. This has been going on ever since the Jews told the people of Palestine the Abrahamic God had decided their country had been given to someone else.
@Oma_Trisha @Redskye572 This is actually a convenient way for Europe and the US to excuse the antisemitism that caused the founding of the current nation-state of Israel in the first place.
You didn't hear what I said. I have no dog in this fight, and I will stick by that until I die. These people have been fighting for 4,000 years. Nobody is going to solve it today or even in the next year or two or 20 unless the parties involved can agree on terms, and they haven't been able to do it so far. Palestinians say it's theirs. Jews say God gave it to them. Neither one is willing to yield. This is just how things are.

No. What you heard was what you want to hear. You tinted my words based on your own prejudice. I said I'm staying the fuck out of it. I have Jewish family members. I have Muslim family members. I refuse to let this shit force me to take sides. I will not do it. Stop putting words in my mouth.
