Covid isn't gone no matter how badly people want that to happen. How long will it take for people to figure out ignoring a pandemic doesn't make it go away?
The Critic's Choice awards will require everyone to test negative before attending, but they're not even bothering to ask people to wear masks.

@Izaya Do they really think it's worth risking lifelong disability or death? I simply can't process that kind of mentality. "Oh, I'm vaccinated, so if I get infected, I won't get really sick or die," doesn't preclude the possibility of long covid or internal organ damage.
@Oma_Trisha Yeah. I don't get it. I know people that have caught COVID multiple times that still refuse to wear masks indoor.
@Izaya I know and am related to people like that. It's hellishly frustrating, especially considering how many of them are high risk. There are days I'd like to drive to their houses and smack them upside the head, but it wouldn't make a difference.
This whole personal risk assessment thing is bullshit. It doesn't calculate how our choices affect others, sometimes leaving them with only 2 options -- 1) avoid others as much as possible, or 2) risk disability or death.

You're right, ignoring a pandemic doesn't make it go away. People are dying at a rate of 500 per day even now, in the US. Only 16% of the population have had the last Covid booster for omicron, according to Dr Kessler. I'm part of the 16%.

@NaomiSkarzinski @Catzly I'm vaccinated and boosted, including the bivalent booster. I can't double mask, but I wear a KN95 every time I have to go out in public and interact with the other occupants of this planet.
@Oma_Trisha Same here. Fully vaccinated & up to date on Covid boosters. KN95 masks, work from home, do pick up or online shopping. @NaomiSkarzinski
@Catzly @NaomiSkarzinski I order online as much as possible, but none of the grocery stores in this area offer curbside pickup, so we do have to venture into enemy territory on a regular basis. I try to go either right after they open in the morning or within an hour of closing time to avoid as many people as possible. If I have to go during the day, I get in and out as quickly as humanly possible.
