I think the main purpose of the referrals to DOJ by the J6C is not to pressure them to indict. The purpose is to have the American public pressure DOJ to indict. The people need to speak. Indict these insurrectionists. Prosecute the planners and most importantly the one who stood to benefit had the attempt succeeded.

Unfortunately, I live in an area infested with a lot of hate.
I'm talking an overabundance of III%ers, Klansmen, Confederate flags, and BOYS who have NO reason to be "proud".
With regards to that flag though, it puzzles me that they almost always fly the battle flag instead of the Stars & Bars.
Sure, both say "I'm racist", but the battle flag mainly suggests "I'm alright with the idea of killing anyone who may disagree with my racism, because i'm so militant about it.".

Like it or not, there must be limits to our freedoms. Hate speech and defamation are not free speech. Using a gun to threaten and harm is not the right to bear arms.

In a society with unfettered "freedoms," the only free people will be the cruelest and most violent among us.

And we are full, we are overflowing, because there's another COVID wave happening.

You really don't want to get it. You will likely survive now, but we have scary data about long term effects which we're still learning about.
I'm 5 times vaxxed, wear a mask in public, and wash my hands when I can't socially distance, and so far I haven't got it. In spite of my job.

I felt the same for those that voted to overturn the election. There was 147 Republicons that voted to overturn it. Every one of them committed sedition just by their votes. And they broke their oath of office going against the constitution. Why aren't all of them being booted out permanently?

European countries have those laws because they have more of a history of domestic terrorist incidents than we do.
We don't even have a statue on the books because we can't come to a consensus on how to define it.
