@MsJudyJetson @Pawstalker @nopuppet_007 Same… 😞. The Obama era gave me hope. The era that’s followed has all but completely dashed those hopes. Hope is hanging by a very thin string…

@Darkenyght1701 @MrElias
Actually you are completely correct. And exemplified by ex-Presidents Nixon, Reagan, and afterwards. It just gets worse as time progresses and recently on the brink of disaster …

@OldCountryDoctor @MrElias 2015?
Try earlier than that.Try the 1990s and the rise of Newt Gingrich, who I blame for laying the groundwork for much of today's GQP.
Try OKC....when these fringe groups first slithered out of the shadows.

Outlets like HuffPo (seen on The Bird) are busy quoting GOP reps about trump's remarks like "We can't just chase down every crazy thing he says"

The massive problem with that is this isn't Trump saying something so untethered from reality that it doesn't merit a response.

This is the former POTUS actively saying he wants to seize power, in plain language.

it is being dismissed as "being crazy" at our deep, deep peril.

@WhiteHorse

sadly, that turnaround would entail extensive public education – in civics, history, and [i would also argue] philosophy [at least logic, but preferably ethics too].

and all that is just too hard for most people. meanwhile, the politics of scandal and rage get immediate results, for relatively cheap.

keep 'em ignorant, keep 'em afraid, and get the white males among 'em to the polls. that's the strategy now.

We have laws and even in the constitution against sedition.
All they need to do to stop this fascist attack on our country is enforce the fucking laws. Politicians agreeing with Trump on the constitution are seditionists breaking their oath of office. Remove them immediately.

Trump's call to terminate the constitution feels half-rehearsed. I think GQP membets hoped to try to reinstate him based on the delusional "red wave."

@John_Scotus

How does anyone vote in this country?

I just can’t grasp it.

@LiberalLibrarian

he's too addled to be embarrassed.

also too addled to realize he is himself being used as a sock puppet for the . when they cease to find him useful, they will toss him aside without a second thought. [ditto who ought to have understood this long ago]

The headline says "Vandalism" but it absolutely was not vandalism, and was instead, political Fascist Terrorism.

Everyone needs to be paying attention to this sort of thing, because it's only going to get worse if these people are not stopped ASAP.

Erdogan and Orban can't be trusted. Therefore the US Senate should immediately adopt mutual defense agreements with Sweden and Finland that can sunset when the domestic political forces in Hungary and Turkey bring new leadership who are not allies of a monster.

The US Senate approved by the required 2/3 majority the NATO accessions of both Sweden and Finland. It is clear that two nations, Hungary & Turkey, cannot be trusted to agree to the accession due in large part to their leader's relations with Russia the aggressor nation that has created a need for these two nations to seek NATO protection. We have several mutual defense obligations including NATO.

Trump wants to end the U.S. Constitution, another page out of the Hitler playbook. In 1933, Hitler's Nazis forced through the Enabling Act that gave him the power to impose laws without the consent of the German Parliament.

@XaoslordErie @TessaForDemocracy
I really hope your supposition about a more recent military turns out to be true — it may become America's only hope (if democracy is overturned by Republicans) and my fervent wish.

@OldCountryDoctor @TessaForDemocracy

Now? It's hard to say. I've been disconnected from military life since 1992, but I can say that an awful lot of people I run into at VA Medical Centers are not so liberal as one might think. Still, there's hope. The doctors I see do seem more open-minded than usual, at least the younger ones do, so an infusion of fresh blood (no pun intended) is somewhat different from the staunch conservatism and unwillingness to listen I became used to over the years.

@MikeHall I never vote for local office. That's how they get their start. Better to just nip that crap in the bud.

@MrElias
This has been true since 2015. It's only going to get worse. America as a nation needs to WAKE UP!
