It's almost funny how many Christians accuse atheists of immorality when around every other corner, some sort of scandal comes from the pulpit. Texas in particular seems to take the lead.

@OTCAtheistATX

People are people.

Nobody's got any high ground in this. Michael Shermer should stop trying to get women a couple decades younger than him too drunk to say "no".

No shortage of immoral atheists, that's certain. Sam Harris thinks torture and pre-emptive use of nukes are things one could justify.

Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

Didn't make any claims of high ground, @mcfate, and I agree in regards to the two examples you listed, but there's far more controversy, scandal, and abuse
in the religious realm.
Just look at the number of priests abusing kids.

@OTCAtheistATX

Calling out someone else's "low ground" is claiming a high ground.

I don't know that any actual data's been collected for atheists, but the claim that religion makes people less moral is nonsense. No doubt that atheists abuse kids, too.

Where are the atheist disaster-relief organizations? Where are the atheist food banks?

@mcfate
1. No, it's not claiming high ground. Claiming high ground is when theists accuse atheists of being immoral and ignore the immorality of religious leaders.
2. I didn't claim that religion makes people less moral.
3. Secular organizations don't have the extensive history of non-profit status and they don't tell people they should give them 10% of their money either.

@OTCAtheistATX

1. Like atheists accusing Christians of being immoral and ignoring the immorality of atheist leaders, you mean?
2. Your entire contention is that Christians are less moral than atheists.
3. Not all churches tithe, when they do, it's voluntary by and large, and you don't need an "extensive history" to start a food bank. That's just an excuse.

Atheists claim to be moral without needing a book or a deity, but there's not much evidence of that morality to be seen.

@mcfate
Yeah, there have been atheist activists committing immoral acts, but not as many as from religious leaders.
No, my contention is not that ALL Christians are less moral, t's stating many accuse atheists of being immoral while ignoring the immorality in their own flocks.
Most churches do preach tithing, and although it's "voluntary" it's heavily emphasized which is still pressuring

@OTCAtheistATX

Oh, "not as MANY", I see.

What's your FLOOR for it making a difference? How many decades have atheist women been complaining about how they get treated by male atheists now? It's at least two or three at this point.

Your "zero tolerance" policy has a "height restriction". Interesting.

@mcfate
How many centuries has religion treated women badly?

@OTCAtheistATX

You're kidding with this, right? This is your idea of a rational argument?

You're seeking revenge for Joan of Arc getting barbecued? I see.

Tell me about all the atheists who were in charge of the French Revolution.

@OTCAtheistATX

Well, what would YOU call it, when you're looking for retribution for women going back centuries?

I hate to tell you this, but EVERYONE treated women badly. The Chinese didn't need religion to bind women's feet, they just needed to think it looked HOT.

@OTCAtheistATX

Um, didn't you just say "goodbye"?

You're meant to LEAVE next, not come back all "And ANOTHER thing!!!"

You quit. Push off now. Go yell at a nun or something.
