B.C. bomb cyclone to create the world’s largest wave pool
Some of the biggest swells and waves in recent memory are about to roar ashore near the northwestern tip of Vancouver Island. This bomb cyclone, fuelled by rapid intensification, is set to generate an oceanic spectacle, creating massive seas and long-travelling swells.
@NorthernInvader man, I'd love to see this from a safe distance!! 🌊
@Zevon I used to love being on Chesterman Beach during big storms but this would be too much
@NorthernInvader it's awesome there for storm watching. Yes, this is a whole other level 🌊 👀
@Zevon Yah - Loved the lighthouse fog horn - I will always remember one time there was a group of us on the beach trying to keep a fire going in the rain, strong winds blowing, drinking Cinzano (it's all we had) and howling at the fog horn every time it let off a blast :) Haven't been there in close to 4 decades since the friend I had there broke up with his GF, who owned the Chesterman Beach B&B, and disappeared up north
@Zevon Not the inn - that's big (and an expensive place to stay) but in those days it had a good chef - we went to dinner there a few times and my friend was a sous chef at the Delta hotel where we worked in Richmond (and he was the chain's owner's son :))
The B&B was 3 bedrooms and a separate cabin all right on the beach near the northern end of the beach
@NorthernInvader a perfect location!
