This past weekend, I was amongst a bunch of people walking along a local road that had been closed to traffic.

I saw a young woman stop and then turn, slowly pacing to the edge of the road--a closer look revealed that she was ushering a weary bumblebee to safety.

It ultimately climbed onto her shoe, and she was able to release it into a flower garden.

I admired her care and tenderness for something so small and easily overlooked.

@Minholkin awww. I love these chonky little friends. 💙
So sweet of her to take care of it!

We have three that come around and work all day on the lavender plants on our balcony.
A few days ago this one was so exhausted that it fell asleep on the flower!

@LaMarghe @Minholkin Like many other pollinators bumblebees are in trouble - Bumble Bee Watch is an organization that is trying to track the decline. They ask people to photograph ones they see, identify them if they can, and upload the picture to their site with location. bumblebeewatch.org/

@NorthernInvader @LaMarghe

I hadn’t heard of this organization—thank you! I’m always stalking the bees around my yard and gardens 💚
