I will be close to retirement age not too long after a 4 year trump term, if the current electoral system is even still in place. Our retirement savings, like many folks, is mostly invested in the stock market. I am concerned that the whole thing will come crashing down, soon. At the same time, they're talking about gutting Medicare and Social Security. I wonder how others in a similar position are preparing. To put bluntly, my sphincter is pretty puckered up about the whole situation.

@MakerWerks My Father in Law was preparing to retire in 2008 when the economy crashed and with it he lost like 60% of his savings. It was devastating.

I'm an old millennial and starting about the time I was a teenager I was being told that I couldn't expect social security to be there for me when I retired.

It grants me a level of understanding, I think, to what you're feeling because for me and many in my generation retirement means "Keep going till you can't"

@MakerWerks There's this understanding that life is a bit Sisyphean. No matter how close I might get that boulder to the peak eventually it's going to run me over and roll back to start.

I hope you are pleasantly surprised and can get the retirement you've earned and paid for.
