I was watching a youtube video that was a deep analysis of Tarantino's films over lunch, and it got into a wander, talking about the effect of social media on culture.

Most notably it cited a Korean philosopher who has spoken about Social Media being antithetical to the formation of true community, substituting community for random hits of attention.

Then I thought about Coso, which is in many ways the antithesis of social media.

We are a community, and we sometimes have disagreements. There are people of all manner of ideologies and ways of life that are on here, from the traditional to the exceedingly eccentric. (Hi!)

Yesterday I had a very wide ranging discussion about free will and determinism with @MLClark @AskTheDevil @Jorro @thewebrecluse and others.

THough we are all quite different and we got quite deep, we were all respectful of each other and had a good chat.

That is community, and a very good one.

@MLClark @AskTheDevil @Jorro @thewebrecluse The philosopher was Byung-Chul Han by the way and I think I'm going to get his work "The Crisis of Narration"
