Okay CoSo, I need some advice. I am potentially looking at reporting the new assistant manager at the apartments, but I'm not sure if I'm over reacting. I don't want to get anyone in trouble for nothing.
There have been two incidents in the past few months, both when I've gone in to pay my rent. I'll put them in the thread as separate posts because it won't all fit here. Keep in mind I have never met this woman until the first incident.
She clarified she was joking but then went into a long monologue about being baptist, but okay with LGBTQ people, because her pastor said that she shouldn't judge. She then spent 15 minutes talking about Jesus and being saved. It felt suspiciously like a transphobe masking. Not only that, but as a person who was traumatized by the church as a child, it hit a nerve. I went back upstairs and made a note of it thinking maybe she was just ignorant and wasn't sure how to approach. That changed today
@Halcyon Spending 15 minutes telling you about her personal religious faith is deeply unprofessional from a corporate stance for one, and the rest of it is highly sus. If this was in a private setting it's one thing, but in a business setting?
If you're having difficulty accessing services after this encounter, or you feel uncomfortable working with her as a result of her actions, I'd write a letter at the very least to upper management and see if this can be addressed.
@Halcyon I think your concerns are valid. She might see her actions as harmless, but it could easily isolate people at the apartment complex, and even leave them feeling unsafe.
@NiveusLepus I've seen her talk to other people in passing, and she seems very confrontational. That's why I'm questioning reporting. It does feel mean-spirited.
@Halcyon @NiveusLepus I think you should go with your gut, and say something.
@NiveusLepus thanks. She's not my boss, she just works in the office of the building. I rarely see her. I think I will report though.
