@NiveusLepus oh hell, I swear the Powers That Be think my Netwalk Sequence series is an instruction manual.
@joycereynoldsward It's a peculiar kind of fear because I see this and I'm thinking... I've already gamed this out to very detailed levels... and it's not good.
@NiveusLepus back in '92 I laid out two scenarios for the future. Both ended up with chaos in...the 2020s. Prophetic?
No, just had good political science training, am a science fiction writer, and am decent at extrapolating trends. Maybe I should have tried to become a pundit. I can't be worse than anyone else out there.
@joycereynoldsward One of the fulcrum events occured over fifty years before the events of the first book, the dissolution of the UN in 2024, and the abrogation of its treaties. The institution became irrelevant as the powers of the security council began squabbling behind the scenes and fought through their regional allies.
@NiveusLepus of course that's not how the story ends, because she does end up on the side of good...but oh does it get messy for a couple of books.
@joycereynoldsward That's an interesting arc.
@NiveusLepus that's what I write, "interesting" arcs.
@NiveusLepus yeah, sounds pretty close to what I laid out in the Netwalk Sequence. Lots of chaos and uproar, allowing my quixotic antagonist to become powerful and eventually betray everyone she loves.
