not jewish husband & i just had 1st serious convo about jewish me & daughter leaving the country. all 3 of us could go to mexico & manage w/o social security. but if things get real bad real quick, israel’s our best option. husband could come with us, but israel is $$$, high tax country plus trump’s clone has just been reelected. my maternal grands were having similar conversations in poland in summer 1939. they left on september 3. our institutions will not hold if the worst happens 2nite.

@barbaraedelman Tough situation. However Israel is an expensive dysfunctional system that is quickly de-evolving into a Orthodox theocracy. Institutionally - I think Canada is a smarter less disruptive move.

@NewEnglandOwl ita 100%. canada has no visa/residency process for retirees, which i am & which husband will be soon. uruguay was high pon my list in 2017: 4 seasons, no tropical regions, stable democracy, not out of the ordinarily jew hating, but it’s so so far away.
