Growing up, my parents dumped us kids every Sunday at the Salvation Army, without our choice or THEM going too, for the most part.

It was a joyless place. It pushed hard that everyone is a horrible, sinful person, not really worth redemption if not for an overwhelmingly generous god...

They were also heavily into the rapture, and showed movies that only years later I realized how violent, graphic & manipulative they were.

Never saw there that was happy or uplifting.

@Absinthe this is why I stopped donating to them. As much as I hate walking past the buckets at Christmas, knowing who they are (and who they refuse to help) ensures I will never give another cent there.

@NapsAndSarcasm Absolutely. So many better ways to help ppl, without that group's tentacles.
