In addition to providing weapons support to the Ukrainian army and imposing new sanctions against Russia, the West should devote more resources to the information battle for the minds of Russians. Success in it is possible.

Russia is not China, and there is no “great firewall” there. Some social networks, primarily YouTube and Telegram, are not blocked. VPNs are not prohibited. Compared to the times of the Cold War, when the West used the Russian-language broadcasts of Radio Free Europe, Radio Liberty, the BBC and Deutsche Welle,

today there are many more opportunities to reach the Russian audience with facts about the war and comparing Russian propaganda with factual information. Winning the information war inside Russia will help win it on other fronts as well—and prevent future incursions by the Putin regime.
