After the multi-wave attack on the Russian port of Sevastopol the Russians announced that they were "withdrawing from the Black Sea Grain Initiative".

The BSGI is (or was) an agreement by all states that food bearing cargo ships from Ukrainian ports could pass unharmed through the war zone.

IOW's the Russians are quite happy to starve half of the planet if they don't get their way.

The rest of the world (including China) have collectively given Russia the middle finger...

With a 12 ship convoy loaded with grain and other foodstuffs headed south through the Black Sea despite Russian threats.

The convoy does have NATO recon aircraft above it. But no NATO warships in range to defend it. It will have to count on NATO fighters if attacked.

The upside here is that I'm pretty sure that the Russian Black Sea surface fleet is in no shape to do anything about that convoy even if Putin wanted them to.

So any Russian attempts to attack that convoy will have to come from a couple of already overworked Kilo class subs or the already skittish Russian air force.

I think the Russians will let this one pass unmolested.

@Nadinbrzezinski Yes!

This is a very good post/article. Thank you Nadin.
