This sucks. You need to get vaccinated with the bivalent dose.

Monoclonal antibody's will not save you anymore.

' Scientists Fear New COVID Variants Are Deadly Like the 2020 Wave

And the same mutations that make them so transmissible also make them unrecognizable to the antibodies produced by monoclonal therapies, rendering those therapies useless

the vaccines still work, even against the new subvariants '

@Dane got my bivalent vaccine because I will be an election judge and wanted to boost my immunity before that very long day with the public.

@Myrth @Dane
Can confirm, people are sicker with the BA5 variant, more ER trips, more shortness of breath and six-week coughs.

A word to the wise: The mRNA vaccine is 95% effective, and extraordinarily good success rate.

But that means one person in twenty will still get COVID.

@Myrth @Dane

In a world where 100% of people are vaccinated, that's good enough. Transmission can't be maintained, so the susceptible 5% of people never get exposed.

If only 4% of people are vaccinated, every one of those susceptibles will get sick.

I know vaccination isn’t 100%. After all, I had a mild case of COVID since I got vaccinated. But better a mild case than a deadly case - I lost colleagues and clients to this pandemic.
