All eyes are on this West Coast storm spreading torrential rains and high winds across the Pacific Northwest. This toggle pairs a Air Mass RGB view of cloud tops with a "look under the hood" via Water Vapor imagery which shows prolific moisture coming onshore.

Do you happen to know how many trillions of gallons of water this will pour onto California, and how that is different from last March's 31 Atmospheric Rivers?

I'll ask the meteorologists, but educated guess (as educated as a Repeating Hamster can be),

No idea on how much water, it might be less, or it might be more, but it will mostly likely be in the same neighborhood; that's one of those things when you are talking about an atmospheric river, we just don't have the knowledge to say for certain.

@MyRadar

🙏 I remember reading (after it happened) that last year’s trains of Atmospheric Rivers dumped over 30 trillion gallons on California. And that sucked, it wreaked havoc with floods and unprecedented damage, roads washed out which stranded people in the foothills for far too long, and Tulare Lake came back to life.

So I’m just hoping this year’s sky rivers are, like, under that.
