@MrGoat If an equal number of people are walking on a spiral staircase in opposite directions, the staircase would appear to stand still when viewed from afar. This is because the movements of the people walking in one direction would be offset by the movements of the people walking in the opposite direction, resulting in a net zero overall movement of the staircase as a whole.
