What are Dark Stars?

Dark Stars are hypothetical stars composed mainly of H and He, with a small amount of dark matter (DM), which generate heat via DM annihilation rather than fusion.

It is theorized that stellar evolution in the DM-rich environment after the Big Bang may have started with dark stars.

Dark Stars can grow to 10 million solar masses. Supermassive dark stars can collapse to black holes. Smaller ones can evolve to fusion-based stars.
