So when I saw they were coming out with another Kindle, but in color, I was like "ehhhh why do I need that??" I was wrong. I definitely need it. I keep seeing photos of people using it for comics and graphic novels and they look amazing. It makes them look like vintage comics because the color is softer and slightly muted. Like a Paperwhite, but colored. I.. I.. need the thing. It's so pretty.
@sarcasmsign @amarand posted about this a while ago. Let them iron out the kinks before investing maybe. A lot of hullabaloo about a yellow strip across the bottom and grainy-ness. But once I discover those issues are resolved, I, TOO, SHALL HAVE ONE.
@amarand @sarcasmsign hopefully when they do fix it, they will also have it marked down a while so they can get the ratings up.
@amarand @MotherDucker Good to know! I haven't seen any other mention of this so I'm glad you pointed it out! I had a weird thing happen with whatever the version was that was out right around when the Paperwhite first came out where the battery drained on me immediately and I couldn't even use it. Sent it back after like 2 days of having it and got the Paperwhite instead.

Yup. What the analysts have been saying is that it’s caused by hardware (a switch of the optically clear adhesive [OCA] at the last minute), but the fix is going to likely be software: pulling back the yellow. Which means I’ll bet if you look at a color image like a full-screen color book cover or picture, the bottom will still show a band of discoloration even after the fix, just in the opposite direction. You’d likely get a blue or purple cast. Fun!
