Very very surprised by how many kids were chowing down on their treats during trick or treat.
I’m such a square, apparently—telling my child she can have candy from our house only until we have inspected her candy.
Parents out here rolling the dice… and I am not one of them. 😱
That being said, I tossed maybe 7 pieces of suspicious candy. Mostly for being partially unwrapped lollipops or an unfamiliar brand of indecipherable sweets and one KitKat that was not quite the right logo. 🤨
@MotherDucker this whole issue makes me really frustrated because I feel like the media have conditioned us for years to be suspicious of each other and assume the worst of people, and I just don't think it's true ...and largely the statistics agree with me. But it's so hard to shake the fear. So I actively work against it.
@MotherDucker Halloween candy poisoning has literally never happened. Except once, in 1984, and it was the kid's dad.
