Summer power outages are the actual worst. Power company sent crews out for tree maintenance. They fudged up and dropped a limb on the lines. Kiddo and I having floor picnic dinner by the fading light of the living room window. Looks like it’s going to storm any minute. 😒
I once got caught in a Christmas blizzard with 3-1/2 feet of snow, 50mph winds, and temps hovering below 0 (not including the windchill). Power was out for three days and not even a blazing fireplace can keep up with the heat loss in a situation like that. At least with a summer outage, you don't have to worry about freezing to death.

@BenA it’s back now, thankfully. Last August we had a 5 day outage after a 🌪️ came through Cleveland. While I was so grateful it was summer, it was a miserable 5 days. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone. But you better believe we’ve got a shelf in the basement with all the contingency plans for a winter nightmare-outage.
Make sure to have extra water on hand for flushing toilets. Something it's easy to overlook.
