Do you think minors should be allowed to fly unaccompanied?
@MotherDucker wings, pixie dust, or catapult?
I had a different experience but it was decades ago. Unaccompanied child flew out to visit my sister. Outbound fine, return trip, problems. A stewardess took my daughter with her everywhere, fed her, hung out in the crew lounge. The airline got her booked to her destination and she was never left alone until she was handed off to a stewardess on the next flight. We were kept informed the entire time.
Late but not lost.
@MotherDucker I can't speak for Delta but Air Canada / WestJet / Porter (3 big airlines in Canada) all do Unaccompanied Minor programs exceedingly well. I know from experience as I used to fly my son between the ages of 7 - 12 to me for my visits.
Mind you, the flight was non-stop Ottawa to Toronto. Certainly may be different if there are connections to be made or it's a long-haul.
@MotherDucker did these parents not know buses exist? or trains? air transport is supposedly faster, but there ARE other options
@MotherDucker
I worked for a UAL Station Contractor at a regional airport in Colorado. Every Unaccompanied Minor ticket comes with clear demands and, somehow, "life" gets put to the test...
Eg: "But she's on the plane and your staff pulled the stairs/ramp! SO WHY CANT I LEAVE NOW!?"
(sigh; etc)
