Scene: me outside with pupper playing ball, man approaches on foot with a lanyard and clipboard.

Me: No Soliciting (points to no soliciting sign he’s ignoring)

Him: I’m not soliciting- do you want to register to vote?

Me: No soliciting.

Him: Okay, but it’s not soliciting…

Possible root cause discovery. People are too fucking stupid to know what “soliciting” means. It doesn’t mean you’re selling encyclopedias.

Also, like I’d give my voter registration information to some wandering fucko with a clipboard and lanyard. I can register online, creepy creeperson and this state offers “motor voter” registration.

Assholes and morons everywhere.

@MookyTroubadour Poll workers are allowed to come past signs that say no soliciting, as there is a special cut-out specifically for political canvassing.

You can tell them at the door to go, and most of the other canvassers I worked with didn't bother to knock if there was a sign, but it is part of the job to go up to _everyone's_ house.

@AskTheDevil the word “soliciting” doesn’t have a carve out for political canvassing. That’s a local ordinance issue, not a linguistic one. They can all fuck right off.
