Boeing moved 787 final assembly to South Carolina in a “cost cutting” move. How does that cut costs? No unions and comparatively unskilled labor in South Carolina when compared to Washington state.

Now that shits hitting the fan, they fly all new 787’s straight from South Carolina to Washington state, where the jets are torn down and rebuilt.

This is how idiotic and greedy Boeing leadership is. This is capitalism. Boeing is too big to fail, so maybe we let the stock free fall, then nationalize and bring back skill and safety?

@MookyTroubadour: I don't understand how "that's capitalism", as if nobody ever anywhere else were greedy, cheating, usurious scumfucks. I get the sentiment, and perhaps like many your definition of "capitalism" is much broader though limited historically in scope than mine. It's just weird to me. Or "that's capitalism" and "that's late-stage capitalism" more a shorthand for being fed up with how the filthy rich and others behave?

@thedisasterautist it is my view that what you describe as “late stage capitalism” is just “capitalism”. It makes no provision for safety, the environment, child labor, etc. etc.

It is not immoral, it’s amoral, and values only what leads to profit. For these reasons I think it needs to be heavily regulated and scrutinized. It won’t do that to itself.
