I haven’t had them in years but have fond memories on my grandparent’s farm. Gooseberry, minced meat and green tomato pies were favorites.

@CherNohio I would have probably enjoyed the food that your grandparents ate. Not unlike what I grew up with.

@MisterE It was pretty basic good food. We lived off the land and raised our own cattle, hogs, chickens, sheep and goats for food and milk. Fresh fruits and vegetables were plentiful harvested from the huge gardens planted each year. There were no processed foods or additives. Food actually tasted good. Of course lots and lots of baked goods. It was the way of life. Simple but hard work.
