@altamaha Sure. I would listen to WKQX FM in CHI on the way to work. They played all this stuff a lot.
@MisterE I was in Hawaii. Good study music 🌺
@altamaha Nice! What were you studying?
@MisterE medical anthropology and ethnobotany, of course! 🌱
@altamaha Wow! Doctorate?
@MisterE yuppers
@altamaha Lot of hard work! Congrats!
@MisterE it was ...a few years ago I toyed with a second doctorate in criminology and that didn't last long. No patience. And doctoral level multivariate statistics. LOL What were you doing in Chicago?
@altamaha Working. Just north of O'Hare airport in Des Plaines, IL. I would be driving 45 minutes to work from the west, so sun in the eyes and blaring KQX. Not too bad.
@MisterE good memories!
@altamaha Yeah. Nobody could figure out why I would arrive at work with a loose, happy attitude. Keep 'em guessing!
Yep, that would be the one. Formats change and modernize frequently. These guys have resisted that for a long time.
@altamaha @MisterE
I just found out that you can listen to these through a Google Home... Yes, I have them...
When I was up in WNY in my youth... I'd drive in to work at 5:30am and used to listen to the local rock station... Until, one week where at 5:50am they would put on Freebird the extended cut, I'm assuming for a bathroom/smoke break, for an ENTIRE WEEK... after nearly dying multiple times on the road, I switched over to WBER, local college extension alt station, and never looked back...
@InvaderGzim Yep. College radio is the shit, for sure! I listen to Northwestern WNUR, College of DuPage WDCB, Loyola U.WLUW as well as Beloit College, where I got my love of college radio.
Thanks for the 411.
@MisterE I love your grunge playlist today. I had forgotten so many of these!
