@MichaelTalon Idea with said example being that it's very unlikely someone would want to give up a very cushy, very well-paid job AND forfeit the ability to engage with politics in any way for the rest of their life to nuke an official who wasn't problematic.
If that's still not enough of a barrier, require that two (could require more but that'd get very expensive) people on said board BOTH agree to exercise their power of removal at the cost of their jobs and ability to engage with politics.
@MichaelTalon I think an interesting idea is checks/balances that rely not on process, complexity, or number of people involved to ensure they aren't misused/overapplied - but on profound personal consequences.
An example would be having a sort of oversight board, each member of which has the ability to have any elected/appointed official summarily removed from office (or worse), but exercising that power means losing their job & receiving a total lifetime ban on political activity of any kind.
