#History -- 2,050 years ago today (16 January 27 BC), Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus was granted the title #Augustus by the Roman Senate, marking the beginning of the #Roman Empire.
In the beginning, there was the Roman Kingdom from 753 BC, then the Roman Republic from 509 BC. And now, with the Empire, the Romans became one of the most influential powers in world history -- at the Empire's height, it controlled a vast area that stretched from Britain to the Persian Gulf, and down to Egypt.
@Paradise7D and it slowly broke apart over the years.
@Paradise7D the last few emperor's were stupid. But,hey the Visigoths were nice enough to send the Western Roman Imperial seal to the Byzantines.
PS: I missed you,sweetness. ๐

@MichaelTalon Oh they absolutely were. It's mind-boggling how some of them behaved. But it's no different nowadays when you take a look at certain politicians ๐ ๐ Crazy as can be.
