Depends how you define classes. The US effectively has a “professional class” of people who define themselves by their education and who tend to prefer to socialize with one another. It includes doctors and lawyers and engineers, but also nurses and elementary school teachers, more achievable careers for 1st generation college students.
Unfortunately, skilled trades seem to get left out, probably because there’s so much tracking in high school between “college prep” and “shop”
