Favorite carol of Sesame Street's Count? The 12 days of Christmas, of course! A-ha-ha ...

Good morning!
Bundle up! It's 16F this morning but thankfully the wind has died down.
Sunny and dry, so a perfect last-minute errand day.
That's your daily forecast from the Blue Ridge, oldest mountains in the U.S., getting ready for Christmas.

Favorite carol of alces alces -- I am dreaming of a white Christmoose.

Weather forecasters' favorite carol -- It came upon the midnight clear.

Mail call was a popular time, especially during the holidays. Soldiers happily received packages from home.

Santa visiting the barracks to find sleeping soldiers, except for one.

The rifle rack was full? No problem! These soldiers decided a window would do -- maybe Santa would see them first. Not sure if the one soldier needed to do laundry or decided his helmet might hold more goodies ...

Stockings must be hung before Santa can visit, and when there's no mantel, enterprising NationalGuard soldiers use the rack storing their 1903 Springfields.

Good morning!
Still cold and windy; a good day to stay inside and make applesauce.
It flurried in our area, but not on our mountain.
That's your daily weather report from the Blue Ridge, where we are all getting ready for Christmas!

The sheeps' favorite carol?
"Fleece Navidad ... from the baaaa-tom of our hearts."

Soldiers from the Pennsylvania National Guard gather around the tree covered in homemade decorations to sing carols.

Good Friday morning! Last day of work this year, which is how it goes as a lone arranger - can't close the library and archives when folks need it. End of digression.
It's cold; 19F but warming to low 50s. Going to be nice tomorrow, too.
But Sunday! Rain (2 to 3")! Wind! Nice day to leave the blowups down and enjoy a fire in the woodstove.
So happy to welcome the rain.

Let's make it a great day!

So last night Lucy Lou the Lab grabbed my tennis shoe out of my closet and ran out the door, into the night and up the mountain. Bye-bye shoe.
Dad was angry with her and even called her Lucille Louise. After school today he told her today no rides in the truck since she took my shoe (she knows better). Lucy runs off into the woods. AND BRINGS BACK MY SHOE FROM SOMEWHERE UP THE MOUNTAIN.
Maybe she does have a brain.
