@MeTheUnfiltered

Let's get some Brits to weigh in, but I know I've heard it referred to as "maths" for different courses or topics of study.

@Florence Your thoughts?

@waywardflf @MeTheUnfiltered @Florence
I'm British and it's "maths" for every course and every topic of study. It's a shorter way of saying mathematics. We're baffled as to why it's called math in the states.

@CAV_82 @waywardflf @Florence The only phrase that I've ever heard, that used "maths" as a word, and I believe it was only used that way as way to make the phrase sound better phonetically, is when they say "maths, and sciences." Math, and sciences wouldn't sound right, but I was always under the impression that the word Math, references to all forms of math, in a general term, without naming them individually.

@MeTheUnfiltered @waywardflf @Florence
I just assumed it was Americans subtracting letters from the original English again like they did with colour and favourite etc..

@CAV_82 @waywardflf @Florence I'll concede that I don't really know for certain what is the right way. All I know is that throughout all my schooling, it was simply called math, or mathematics, and the only time I heard the word maths, was when put before sciences!
