Interesting NYTimes piece. nytimes.com/2022/12/29/opinion My experience was different. We did a fairly massive declutter last year along with a renovation, and living somewhere else for awhile. Our life is easier now without the clutter. It feels better this way. Thoughts?

@Marioninnyc We de-cluttered a ton when we moved and downsized last year. Less cleaning, less dusting, and giving stuff away felt good. I’m continuing a little at a time now.

@TheresaVermont Yeah, I think one thing that helped us was that we gave most of the stuff away! Easy as there are google groups of neighbors in my apartment complex! I think having a way to not throw things out helped us a lot.

@Marioninnyc I loved giving stuff away. I could post on Nextdoor and it would be gone. Didn’t have luck with Facebook Marketplace in MI, too many scammers. But I have good luck here and we also have a neighbor-to-neighbor group here that’s excellent. Love giving stuff away whenever possible. It’s so freeing when we have no expectations of getting something in return.
