So, after reapplying to the Adult Disability people, *last July*, and spending 9 months in an anxious state, I finally got hold of them yesterday. Apparently, I was awarded the benefit again, a month ago, BUT, the letter of proof "got lost in the post". I mean, you just can't make this stuff up, can you?
@homebird They are very disorganised. I have to fill forms in and answer questions all of the time. It's a total waste of everone's time- I have a progressive illness - I am never getting better just getting worse as slow as I can make it. lol I'm glad you have it now. Maybe there is a way to log on to one of the govername websites for you to check next time?
@homebird I'll let you into a secret - I make my husband open all letters to me from government departments. I freak out too much. It started when I had the inland revenue investigate the same tax year twice. (It was actually started when my employer made a mistake with my P45) which wasn't covered by Inland Revenue help pages. (They gave me two P45s).
@homebird How spiteful of your ex. I'm fortunate that I haven't seen a real person for years on the benefits side of things.
@Mandypar I don't blame you. I get a close friend to come with me now whenever I have to talk to them face to face. They have had me completely traumatised over the years. I once had my benefit stopped, without warning, because my ex told them I was working (I am not, nor have been able to for over 20 years!). That feeling that someone sitting at a desk somewhere has such power over your life is terrifying.
