I grew up with Motown.
My mom was a big fan of Motown. Had quite the collection of real vinyl records.

My sister has the collection.
Mom passed away when I was 26. I will be 51 in July. Along time ago.

I am so sorry about your mom. I lost mine 14 years ago. It's not anything we ever get over I think.

James Jamerson is one of my Bass heros. I started playing Bass playing along with Motown.
I read an interview with the Living Colour bass player (Muzz Skillings, not Doug Wimbish) where he told a story that always stuck with me (and him)
when Muzz was gettin pretty good at bass, his older brother played him some James Jamerson...Muzz says "that's easy, I can play that"...and his older brother says "yeah, but could you come up with that?"
that's the thing right there...cuz I went thru that exact same phase...
