I was raised in the christian church, with what I thought were christian values. I've come to learn in my older age that those values don't square with those values, beliefs and actions of even a lot of self-proclaimed christians.

I no longer capitalize "christian."

I, instead, declare myself a follower of the tenets of Christ. There is a difference.

Christians are just like everyone else trying to do the right thing but still vulnerable to problems. But the value of everyone's faith is its ability to inspire that courage of heart, strength of body and wisdom of mind to work with others to build happier lives and a better world.
