@northernbassist
My very first ever gig as a bass player: Winter 1992 - I'm sitting in my favorite bar and the waitress says to me in her thick brogue "i heard you play bass now - we've got a gig and we need a bass player." She tells me the gig is in two days and hands me a cassette and says "learn these songs and we'll see you there." I get home, put on the tape and it's 80% tamla/motown stuff. A trial by fire indeed. I did the gig, barely squeaked by. I've had imposter syndrome ever since.
