This, I promise, will be my last K-centric post today.
Remember this time in 2016? How enthusiastic the party was? We were going to do something that had never been done before (again). The path was clear and all we had to do was watch that orange punk get pummeled on election night.
And then....poof.
This isn't deja vu. Things feel different now. I'm not over-confident..just...confident. Yeah - this is a different vibe. The wave is gathering, folks, Wax your boards. Vote.
@GlennS
Oh, I think I overdid it today!
@MPCavalier Also it's a very different situation. tfg is a convicted felon, rapist, twice-impeached, etc.
But yeah, I was very confident of 2016's outcome, until I wasn't.
@piquant00
Yes - all that - and he still polls (I know I know I know) at 50% and the base loves him even more now. TBH I'm getting less concerned with the election and more concerned with its aftermath.
@MPCavalier I wasn't very confident in 2016, but my doom sense wasn't more than a background murmur either. This year, the doom sense has been screaming. Less so now, but my confidence remains weak. I will vote. I will contribute. Where the opportunity avails itself, I will try to convince my unconvinced acquaintances to do likewise. I have little faith that it will do any good, but I will do it.
@00pi
And that's all a lot of us can do. I know people who are STILL shell shocked from 2016, and have completely dropped off the grid (not voting, not caring, not participating, not discussing). It's ok for confidence to be low, these are strange times. And getting stranger.
@MPCavalier I recently read a SF novel set largely in a post-Christian fascist US. Much of the action was close to my present physical location. It was a good series, but damn if it didn't regularly freak me out.
@00pi lets hope life doesn’t imitate art, eh?
@MPCavalier In that case, yeah.
@MPCavalier why the last? there's so much to talk about!
