My ears are still ringing a bit from the concert last night; I shouldn't have forgotten my Loop earplugs. Oh well.
I used to actively avoid concerts. Part of this was because I was dissociating and depersonalizing as part of masking as masc, and part of this was not letting myself just enjoy things.
But there was another part -- perhaps the largest one -- which is that I just didn't like the music people wanted me to listen to, and I didn't advocate for myself.
Chicana punk is fire :)
@lenaoflune
Did you by any chance see FEA last night??
@lenaoflune
Lucky Lena. The one time I had an opportunity to see them, in March 2020, that was the week Covid hit Indy and I had to pass on the show. They are an amazing band. In case you want more of that, check out Phani and Jenn's old band Girl In A Coma.
@lenaoflune
And they are SUPER nice - I interviewed Girl in a Coma many years ago and they were hilarious and very very cool.
@MPCavalier I was up in the front at the show and they seemed really cool :)
The venue, the Hi Tone, has a small room and a big room. They played the small room and it's an extremely intimate space, about the size of a garage. And I love that sort of thing because they can see and hear the audience and we can see them up close.
@lenaoflune
Nice - best kind of place to see a show. Glad you got to see the mighty FEA. I'm jelly!
@MPCavalier Ooh. I'll look into those! FEA is definitely a hyperfixation of mine right now :)
