I'm not afraid of wasps, I just don't want them around. They are the assholes of the insect world.

But, I can be an asshole too. Last year - I saw the very beginning of a paper-wasp nest taking shape below my deck. But i waited until mid-summer - when it was about three inches wide - before napalming it with all the fury of a thousand cans of wasp killer foam. It was glorious.
