Is there a dishwasher repair person in the house? I have an obscure issue I am trying to resolve. I have searched the internet far and wide...
@ceorl @MPCavalier They've added the Very Expensive Part, and the Internet For No Reason Part.
We used to have customers looking at basic washers and deluxe washers side by side.
The would ask - What's the difference?
We would say - They're the same inside, but it's $100 per button on the panel.
@ceorl I direct messaged you.
Ha ok, I never seem to notice those, I will look for it
@MPCavalier I have a certain set of skills, describe the problem.
@CanisPundit
DW stopped draining. I traced two issues. 1. The check valve below the filter (next to the grinder) needed a replacement (see photo). Here's where it gets weird. The round part of the valve was gone. 2. The drain hose out of the pump also has a built in check valve. When I inspected the drain pump end of the hose i felt a rubber valve blocking the output but it would not budge (which i think is the cause of the blockage)

My question is...
Is the blockage in the hose actually the drain hose check valve OR did the round part of the tub's check valve break off - and get lodged in the drain hose? What should I feel inside the pump end of the drain hose? Thanks for any guidance.
@MPCavalier I’m in agreement with the broken part being an additional choke point. Removing and cleaning the hoses (ream, degrease, unblock) is my suggestion. And assure the disposal inlet is clear. The scary thing being the potential for fragments being inside the pump. And of course clean or replace the filter. Good luck in your mission. More times than not doing it yourself gets the job done sooner than tracking down someone to do it for you.
@MPCavalier
I used to do appliance repair long long ago, more clothes washers than dish washers, but some.
With dish washers it was usually food gunk or grease preventing the water level float from moving freely, so not filling or overflowing :)
I am sure with newer models they have introduced more points of failure though ;)
