🎧 KISS, "KISS". I know, I am laughing at myself too. The silliest band to ever exist, for sure. For those of us that came of age in the 70's, KISS was inevitable. I went through a short phase in 77-78 and then moved on. But the first side of this debut contains 4 of their most iconic songs. Dripping with misogyny, this music is cringey to me now. 12 year old me had no idea. Apologies to my parents and our neighbors for the late night listening parties.

@MPCavalier I used to cover their stuff in a band during the mid 70's two come to mind: "Strutter" and "Rock n Roll All night". I'm not a huge Kiss fan but they could be very competent musicians live sometimes.

We used to do "Cold Gin" in the bar band in the 90's just because we loved that middle section with the ascending riff. As goofy as they are, people always reacted to that song.

I was right there for the Kiss lunch boxes, friends who loved Kiss, moms who my friends wear Kiss shirts to school, but it missed me entirely somehow. I remember liking Alice Cooper. He had none of the merch but all of the guillotine. Heh...I think I heard 1/2 of one of this songs on the TV.

it's weird. I don't ever listen to them anymore (they came up on my daily "spin the wheel" today). But I vividly remember the first time I heard them. Listening to WNEW in NYC, Nov '76. They played an ad for the ROCK AND ROLL OVER album that had "I Want You" and "Doctor Love" in it. I was mesmerized. I think they were more my rebellion against my brothers' music than anything else. But yeah I was all in for about 2 years. Never bought the merch though!

By all accounts, I SHOULD have been a KISS fan with the dolls, the stage, and the flammable Halloween wear, but...nope.

Now, Ozzy? I was a total devotee. If he had sold gummy bats, I woulda bought and ate them. That phase went on for years.

I shoulda been studying calculus...

I was more into hard rock back then, Beck, Bogert & Appice, Jeff Beck Group etc. Trivia, Ron Wood plays bass on the first two Jeff Beck Group albums, Truth and Beck Ola, The sound Ron got on Beck Ola is incredible, he was a great bassist.

@miserable_day @MPCavalier

The original Alice Cooper Band were great. I read Dennis Dunaway's book a few years ago (bassist) they were all high school friends who grew up in Phoenix and wanted to play in a rock n roll band, were on the track team together.

@Charles_Hawtrey @MPCavalier

Yeah, got deep into Frank Zappa for long stretch, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn Zappa signed them originally. I heard Mr. Cooper say that Frank thought the band should be called, "Alice Cookies." Hahahahaha.

@miserable_day @MPCavalier

Yes, their first two albums are or were on his label, Straight Records, there are early recordings of them from the mid 60's called The Earwigs and other names, garage band stuff.
