🎧 MC5, “Kick Out The Jams”. One of a handful of critically acclaimed albums that I just don’t get at all. I get WHY it appeals to critics, its primal garage rock. But its too…immature for my ears. The drums are sloppy, the guitars are out of tune, it sounds like they’re playing together for the first time, pre-soaked in beer and skunk weed. Again, I get why they were the darlings of critics. And I appreciate the many bands that formed in their wake. Godfathers of punk, indeed.

@MPCavalier I feel the same way about Nirvana's NEVERMIND. Despite many attempts, I've never been able to make it through the entire album. Hell, to be honest, it took a lot for me to make it through the first track...

I hear that about NEVERMIND more than I thought I would. The big one for me is “Trout Mask Replica”. Every one of my muso friends worships that album. I despise it. Its my krypronite.

@MPCavalier Yup. I had a friend who thought that another LA fringe musician, Wild Man Fisher, was the greatest things since sliced bread. I thought both my friend AND WMF needed heavy medication.

Ahhh the “outsider” music!! Hey, there’s an audience for everything.
