Looking for good people to talk about/share DIY, PROG, INDIE music, old time comedy, bass playing, songwriting.
@authormbdavis Excellent band! i still go thru a prog cycle about once a year for a month or so. Still love my RUSH, but I got into a lot of the northern-euro bands like Anekdoten, Opeth, and Motorpsycho. I got turned on to Airbag, Gazpacho, and PIneapple Thief a few years ago and I listen to that stuff now when I need a prog fix.
@MPCavalier I love a bit of prog, across subgenres - Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Tool, Blue Öyster Cult. I also love collecting these progressive rock 'various artists' CDs from Discogs: https://www.discogs.com/label/553388-Music-From-Time-And-Space
@TrishaGreenie
Big fan of all those bands. I got to interview Mikael Akerfeldt from opeth some years ago. Porcupine Tree - damn - one of my favorite bands. I live in a bit of a “prog desert” but we do occasionally get some good shows within driving distance! We drove 2 hrs to see King Crimson (would have walked if i had to!).
@TrishaGreenie
Wow! Those compilations you linked are like "Now That's What I Call Music" but for nerds! Love it!
@MPCavalier I'm not good for talking about Bass other than, "yeah they can play". But I think I have a good grip on the rest.
@MPCavalier Hola! Unsure if I qualify as "good people", but here are some random prog/indie picks I dig 🙂
Perfect Beings, Vier (album)
Dave Kerzner, New World (album)
Lonely Robot, How Bright is the Sun? (song)
Moon Safari, any, but A Kid Called Panic and Constant Bloom are my favorites
Karmakanic, any
Magic Pie, A Life's Work Pt 2 (but most is pretty great)
Haken, all - but I dig their older stuff more, so The Mountain (album) and Visions (album)
The Enid, Dust (album) Invicta (album)
@MPCavalier A fun and ferocious band based in Edmonton, Canada. https://youtu.be/TmR4vEHbTSU
@MPCavalier A classic. https://youtu.be/nPtM_VNvCTU

I love old timey comedy!!
@MPCavalier I used to listen to tons of prog. Some of the older Spock's Beard is still some of my favorite!
