I am just back from a job fair and unfortunately it wasn't very helpful. It was aimed predomintantly at school leavers, offering apprenticeships and the like.
I had a couple of chats, but nobody was really recruiting.
First off, congrats for showing up! Definitely worth rewarding yourself.
I have a friend around your age who's been out of the job market for a while, & he reports similar issues with lean pickings in job fairs these days. It's really rough.
Do you have an employment centre nearby, with listings & people you can talk to, to direct future inquiries & maybe go over your CV?
It's very clear that in-person connection goes a *long* way. 💛 Well done for putting yourself out there!

@MLClark I have a great jobcentre and an allocated work coach who is a bit ditzy but cares and does her best. CV is a continual work in progress.
I'm not looking for full-time work, so that is in my favour as there are usually more part-time jobs out there.
